Question: How do I update a link to a pdf or other file on the website?Answer:Go to the control at http://www.yourdomainname.com/brainsite/ and log in To upload files (images, pdf files, video, etc...):- Click on the Upload tab
- On the left hand panel, select the directory or create a new directory you want to upload the files to.
- Use the Browse buttons (on the right hand panel) to select up to 4 files to upload, then press Upload Images button.
To make your new file show up, you can either rename the files or you can change the link. To rename the files:- Select the old file from the tree (on the left hand panel).
- Either rename the old file or just delete it. But make sure you remember the name before you do. It's best to copy the name into the clipboard by highlighting the name and selecting Edit->Copy from the menu. This way you won't have to type it in by hand.
- Select the new file and rename it to the exact name as the old file.
To change the link:- Click on the Pages tab.
- Select the page where the link exists from the pages list on the left
- Click Edit Page
- Highlight the text where the link is and press the Link button (in the tool bar -- it's a picture of the earth with a chain link on it)
- Type in the link and close the window. For example, "images/pdf/article_version_2.pdf"
Note: the images directory sits at the root of the website. So, you don't need to put "http://www.yourdomainname.com/" in front of the link. Web browsers automatically put that in for you. The full link to the example above is "http://www.yourdomainname.com/images/pdf/article_version_2.pdf" which effectively does the same thing. But all you need is "images/pdf/article_version_2.pdf" This is just how web browsers work. |
